    Eligibility for Ireland Travel Insurance

    Types of Ireland Visas

    Foreign tourists will require a UK Visa for traveling to Northern Ireland and an Irish Visa for traveling to the Republic of Ireland. According to the British-Irish visa scheme, Indian and Chinese citizens can travel to the UK and Republic of Ireland on a single visa (UK visitor visa except for visitor in transit or visitor for marriage/civil partnership) if they are visiting on the short-stay visa or visitor visa.

    Depending on the purpose of your visit, you can opt for the following types of Ireland Visas:

    • Irish Short Stay Visa: This type of visa is valid for a period of less than 3 months. It is further classified as:
      • Tourist Visa: Those who are visiting Ireland for the purpose of tourism can apply for a Tourist Visa with a validity of 90 days.
      • Business Visa: Those who are visiting Ireland for business activities can apply for Business Visa.
      • Family/Friend Visit Visa: Those visiting the country to a friend or family member who is a resident citizen of Ireland can apply for this visa.
      • Employment visa: Those traveling to Ireland for getting short-term employment can apply for this visa.
    • Long stay visa. If you plan to stay for a longer duration in the country, apply for a long-stay visa which is valid for a period of more than 3 months.

    Indians having a valid visa under British-Irish visa scheme will not require a UK transit visa. The other categories of visas include Single Entry Visa, Multiple Entry Visa and Re-entry Visa. It should be noted that travelers should first visit the country which issued the visa.

    UK Visas: Indian and Chinese citizens can travel to Ireland and the UK using the visas as given below:

    • Visa for standard visitor categories having validity of six months for a single visit
    • Permitted Paid Engagement Visa

    Visa Procedure for Ireland

    • Step 1: Decide the type of visa you need and fill the application form with relevant details
    • Step 2: Book appointment with the visa application center to provide biometric data and documents
    • Step 3: Visit visa application center within 30 days of completing online visa application form
    • Step 4: Pay the required visa fee, as applicable (INR 4,800 for Short-stay ‘C’ Visa, INR 7,800 Euro for Multiple Entry Visa and INR 2,400 for transit entry visa)

    The following documents are required for the visa application procedure:

    • Duly signed application summary sheet
    • Two-color passport-size photographs
    • Valid Passport containing minimum one blank page
    • Appointment and receipt of payment confirmation of visa application
    • A signed letter of application
    • Supporting documents for the specific visa category
    • One photocopy of every original document

    Applications for visas must be submitted at the Embassy of Ireland. The visa can be either collected from the visa application center or obtained through delivery by post.
