Such procedures are referred as Day Care Treatment or Day Care Procedures. The health insurance policy helps policyholders to avail cover for such procedures, subject to policy terms and conditions.
AYUSH Treatment refers to the alternative system of medicines such as Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy. Alternative treatment has become popular owing to its great healing effects. The expenses incurred due to in-patient care treatment under AYUSH treatment at any AYUSH hospital will be covered by the insurer, subject to policy terms and conditions.
Cataract is a common eye disorder mostly seen in elderly people. With modern surgical procedures, cataract surgery is carried out effectively. However, the cost of surgery could be on the higher side if you are availing treatment at private hospital. Arogya Sanjeevani Health Insurance Policy offers cover for cataract treatment with a cap of 25% of sum insured or Rs 40,000, whichever is lower, per each eye in a policy year.
With advancements in healthcare, there are modern treatments that aid in curing serious health conditions. There are some medical procedures, availed either as in-patient or day care treatment, which are covered up to 50% of sum insured in the policy period. They include Robotic surgeries, Bronchial Thermoplasty, Stereotactic Radio Surgeries and Oral Chemotherapy, to name a few.
Policyholders are required to disclose their medical conditions at the time of buying a policy. Coverage for pre-existing diseases will be provided subject to waiting period of 48 months of continued coverage from the policy inception date.

There are certain medical conditions, as listed under the health insurance policy, which are covered after completion of the waiting period. However, the waiting period is not applicable if the policyholder is availing treatment resulting from accident.
There is a waiting period of 48 months for age-related Osteoarthritis and Osteoporosis as well as treatment of joint replacement (unless arising from accident). There is a waiting period of 24 months for availing coverage for certain medical conditions like Benign ENT disorders, Tonsillectomy, Hernia of all types, Cataract and age-related eye ailments, Piles, etc.
