    What is Care Arogya Sanjeevani Policy?

    Arogya Sanjeevani is a standard health insurance cover introduced by the IRDAI during the outbreak of COVID-19. With common features throughout the insurers, this indemnity-based policy was implemented with the goal of simplifying health insurance by providing common benefits and features to all health insurance and general insurance companies in India. The IRDAI's Arogya Sanjeevani Health Insurance Policy provides individuals and families health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh.

    You can choose the individual or family floater option of the Arogya Sanjeevani Health Insurance policy at Care Health Insurance to keep your finances protected during medical emergencies. Arogya Sanjeevani policy coverage includes, in addition to hospitalisation, pre and post-hospitalisation medical expenses, ICU charges, room rent, and modern treatments. It will also cover the cost of hospitalisation for COVID-19 treatment. The policy, which is reasonably priced, will provide you and your family with adequate financial protection in the event of a medical emergency.

    Arogya Sanjeevani Health Plan Details

    • Entry Age-Minimum

      • Individual: 5 years

      • Floater: 3 months with at least 1 member of age 18 years or above

    • Life long Renewability of policy under the then prevailing Health Insurance Product or its nearest substitute approved by IRDA.

    • Co-payment: While buying or renewing a policy at the age of 61 years and above, customers will have the choice to include or exclude the co-payment feature that implies -

      • Continuing the policy with 20% co-payment

      • Continuing the policy without 20% co-payment by opting for a waiver benefit.

    • Premium to be paid on renewal and the subsequent continuation of cover are subject to change with prior approval from IRDA.

    • 30 days waiting period for a claim for all illnesses, except injury

    • Grace period of 30 days to renew your policy once it expires.

    • Named ailment wait period - Some of the diseases carry 24 months wait period, and few diseases have 48 months wait period (refer to policy T&C for detail)

    • Pre existing disease wait period 48 months.

    • Expenses incurred as a result of or related to alcohol or drug use/misuse/abuse

    Yes, the minimum entry age is 5 years for individuals, and the maximum entry age is 65 years. The minimum entry age for dependent children is 3 months in a floater policy, and the maximum entry age is 24 years.

    Q. What are the Tax Benefits of Arogya Sanjeevani Individual Health Policy?

    According to section 80D of the Income Tax Act 1961, the premium paid for Arogya Sanjeevani Individual Health Insurance is entitled to tax exemption.

    Q. Is coronavirus treatment covered under the Arogya Sanjeevani health insurance policy?

    The policy will cover the hospitalisation expenses related to coronavirus treatment.

    Q. Is there a waiting period involved in the Arogya Sanjeevani policy?

    It includes a waiting period of 48 months for pre-existing ailments and a waiting period of 24-48 months for specific diseases (as may be the case). The policyholder will be eligible to get cover for such conditions and diseases only after the waiting period is over.

    Q. Can I increase my sum insured under Arogya Sanjeevani beyond the set brackets?

    No. You do not have the option to increase the sum insured. The policy provides maximum coverage up to Rs 5 lakh.
