In today’s era, medical advancement has made the impossible possible, and that’s how IVF became one of the most significant achievements of medical science. This procedure has turned out to be a boon for couples facing difficulties in conceiving naturally. As per the reports, the fertility outlook in 2023 doesn't look that great, as the fertility rate has only declined. India's Total Fertility Rate (TFR) is now at the population replacement rate stage and has been dropping steadily. The fertility rate dropped dramatically to 0.92% in 2022. However, recent data from the Sample Registration Survey (SRS) indicates that the general fertility rate decreased by 28.5% in the capital city with working-eligible couples.

Medical science has introduced the IVF procedure to cater to such couples who wish to experience the joy of parenthood. The process involves close monitoring and stimulating a patient's ovulatory process. To discover how you can be covered under health insurance for IVF, read on to decipher the coverage options offered by Care Health Insurance’s Care Classic plan.

What is In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)?

In Vitro Fertilisation(IVF) is a medically tested procedure where a sperm and an egg are combined outside the body in a laboratory. If the sperm and the egg fertilise successfully, the resulting embryo is transferred to the woman’s uterus to achieve a successful pregnancy.

Is In Vitro Fertilization Covered by Insurance?

Health insurance is one of the most prudent investments and needs of the hour due to the skyrocketing hospitalisation and treatment costs. Just like any other treatment these days, IVF treatment expenses could also end up burning a hole in your pocket if you do not have a financial back in place. To help you combat medical inflation and get treatment without any financial restrictions, Care Health Insurance offers coverage for IVF treatment under Care Classic zone based health insurance. Care Classic is an Insurance that covers IVF-related expenses and helps you experience the joy of parenthood.

The causes mentioned above of infertility could encourage you to undergo assisted reproductive treatment, and knowing that an insurance plan covers IVF will keep you at peace.

Treatments Covered Assisted Reproductive Health Insurance

Treatments covered under Care Classic– Health Insurance for IVF treatment are-

  • In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)- The procedure involves collecting eggs from the woman’s ovaries and merging them with the man’s sperm in an expert-supervised laboratory to make an embryo. Then, the embryo is transplanted into the woman’s uterus. If you have health insurance for In Vitro Fertilization, you will be saved from shelling out your savings all at once.
  • Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer (GIFT)- This is a three-step procedure that involves the removal of eggs, combining them with the sperms in a laboratory dish, and immediately placing them in the fallopian tubes. Women are also given follicle-stimulating drugs to increase their chances of producing multiple eggs.
  • Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)- This procedure is a specialised kind of assisted reproductive treatment that is used for male infertility issues. In this procedure, a single sperm is injected directly into a mature egg for fertilisation.
  • Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer (ZIFT)- This procedure is similar to IVF and embryo transfer. The only difference is that the fertilised embryo is transplanted into the fallopian tube instead of the uterus. This process is called tubal embryo transfer, as the fertilised egg is directly transferred into the tubes.
