To apply for a minor's passport online, follow the below-mentioned steps:

• Step 1: Sign up on the official website of Passport Seva Kendra Website.
• Step 2: Log in to your PSK account using your credentials. 
• Step 3: Navigate to the online passport application form for minors and fill in the details carefully.
• Step 4: Carefully check the details before submitting the form and pay the online fee through credit card/ debit card/ net banking/ UPI etc.

Eligibility Criteria for Passport Application for Minors 

To be eligible for a minor passport, an individual should be under the age of 18 years. The criteria below can help a juvenile easily own a minor passport in India.

• At least one or both parents of the minor should be a citizen of India.
• The minor should be below 18 years of age. Applicants between 15-18 years may need additional documents as specified under the passport application procedure.
• If the parents are together, then the consent of both parents is required during the passport application.
• For separated, divorced, widow/widower parents, consent from at least one parent or legal guardian may be accepted. The parent may be asked to submit an affidavit explaining the circumstances. 
• The minor should have necessary documents such as a birth certificate, address proof, a duly filled passport application form for minors, photographs, etc.

Documents Required for a Minor Passport in India 

Based on the eligibility criteria, the documents required for a Minor passport in India may vary. You may be asked to present the below-mentioned documents while applying for a minor’s passport in India.  

• Citizenship Proof:  The minor’s birth certificate with the mentioned birthplace can work as certified proof of citizenship.
• Current Address: The current residential address of the parents can be proof of the current address of the minor.
• Copy of parent’s passport: If the applicant is a single parent, a copy of their passport can be accepted. However, if both parents are available, a copy of the passport of both parents may be required.
• Photographs: Colored passport-size photographs of the minor must be submitted in dimensions 4.5*3.5.

Additionally, the applicant must provide an affidavit with a certain Annexure as mentioned below:

• Annexure E: A standard affidavit in case of a normal passport for the minor.
• Annexure C: An affidavit explaining the circumstances must be required if the parental consent of only one parent is provided in the passport application for a minor.
• Annexure D: An affidavit if the minor stays with a single parent
• Annexure G: If the minor can not obtain consent from both biological parents.
• Annexure H: If the minor lives with legal guardians.

What is the Validity of a Minor Passport?

The validity of minor passports may vary based on the minor's age. 

• If the minor is between 15-18 years of age, a passport with a validity of 10 years shall be provided after police verification.
• If the minor is below 15 years, the passport validity may be five years or until the minor turns 18, whatever is earlier.

Please note that a minor's passport in case of a minor under 15 years is invalid after the minor turns 19.
