Kolkali Dance

Kolkali is the folk dance of the Lakshadweep people, which is exciting. The dancers move in a circle, strike small wooden sticks with each other and take beautiful steps in rhythmic progression. Their circle gradually shrinks as the dance continues, and in the end, all the performers come close to each other.

This dance resembles the one practised by the Malabar people and the Dandiya Ras of Gujarat.
