As India prepares for its 77th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport will experience temporary daily disruptions in flight operations. This disruption is for almost 2.5 hours as preparations for Republic Day ramp up. The government’s safety measures ahead of the January 26 celebrations are likely to affect thousands of passengers during this busy travel period.
Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport will stop flight operations for about 2 hours and 25 minutes each day until January 26 for Republic Day preparations. The Airports Authority of India issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM). The airport’s runways and controlled airspace will close daily from January 21 to January 26 between 10:20 am and 12:45 pm.
During these daily pauses, no arrivals or departures will be allowed. This rule applies to both domestic and international flights. The temporary suspension happens during busy morning flight times. This raises concerns about schedule disruptions for thousands of travellers.

Officials emphasise that these restrictions are standard practice and essential to maintaining safety and order during Republic Day events, which attract dignitaries from across the country.

Passengers flying to or from Delhi between now and January 26 should:
With both weather and security measures affecting flight movement, patience and proactive planning will be essential for those navigating air travel in the nation’s capital this month.
